Story: After forcing the attendees to play a perilous game in which only one will survive, a family reunion devolves into a graphic massacre of senseless murders.
Review: Little do they know that this might be their last day when Jon Voight's character Ellison Betts invites his family to a reunion at his vast house in the middle of nowhere. However, as viewers, we can already tell what will happen in this campy gorefest from the opening shot. The premise heavily references movies such as Saw, Escape Room, and Knives Out, however it lacks the artistry. This one is completely meaningless, insanely extravagant, and disorganized.
You would have lost patience and interest in the string of needless murders by the time the one excellent concept that serves as the killer's lethal game is exposed toward the conclusion. Even worse, it's terribly done with implausible production values, lending the whole thing a B-grade horror movie atmosphere. How an Academy Award winner such as Jon Voight consented to be a part of this murderous circus is shocking.
The only instruction given to the actors by director Sean McNamara must have been to yell at every chance or gap in the performance. There is little to no motivation for the audience to feel any kind of connection with the characters because of Brian Buccellato's sloppy and unfinished writing.
Besides, there are just too many of them. The violent clamor of the mansion is seamlessly blended with the background score, but the crucial "dangerous game" is far too intricate and dispersed to be able to evoke fear and doubt in the audience.
All things considered, "Dangerous Game: The Legacy Murders" lacks the necessary skill to live up to the excitement it promises and the necessary risk to end the legacy of its senseless killings.
