Story: Two years after the events in "Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna," in which a massive DigiEgg appears over the Tokyo Tower, the events in this movie take place.
Examine: While this new adventure for the characters from the original "Adventure 02" is a little disappointing, fans of the Digimon series will probably enjoy it. While "The Beginning" attempts to delve into darker issues, the events shown in the movie come out more as broken promises. The action-packed battle sequences that are usually connected to the Digimon world are conspicuously absent. Although the attempt to create a technically sophisticated film is praiseworthy, the storyline could have benefited from an equal amount of work. The movie falls short of totally involving the viewer since it lacks both build-up and innovative action sequences. Fortunately, viewers unfamiliar with the series won't need to see "Last Evolution Kizuna," the first movie, in order to understand this one.
The story follows the characters from "Digimon Adventure 02," but it takes place ten years later. Now in their 20s, the majority of the team finds themselves in Tokyo in 2012. Rui, armed with a cracked Digivice, sets out to reach a giant DigiEgg that appears above Tokyo Tower. Daisuke is rescued by Miyako, Ken, Iori, Takaishi, and Hikari after he falls from the tower. But when they set out on a new journey, the circumstances forced them to reconsider their bond with their Digimon companions.
The movie has certain positive aspects as well, despite its flaws. The close bond between the team and their Digimon is what makes this anime so endearing. The characters' aging process has been handled maturely, and although the ten-year jump seems startling at first, it eventually gives them a sense of renewal. Fans of the first anime will find this episode to be a worthy sequel, demonstrating how layers to the story can propel beloved childhood characters into new realms. It is important to note that, despite the fact that the crew members are present in every scene and their banter makes for entertaining viewing, Rui is the main character in the movie, and their presence only serves to forward his narrative.
The underlying idea of the movie is that innocence is embodied by both Digimon and children. The protagonist is portrayed as a victim of domestic violence, and the narrative takes the shape of a psychological horror story. The way things work out in "The Beginning" is probably going to satisfy fans of the original film. But this movie departs from the standard Digimon film approach in a few ways, which can turn off some fans. The movie has its moments, but in comparison to the last one, it is a little lacking in some areas.
