Mission: Chapter 1 Film Analysis

Mission: Chapter 1 Movie Synopsis: A prisoner imprisoned in a London jail encounters numerous obstacles in his attempt to see his sick daughter.

Mission: Chapter 1 Film Analysis: Mission Chapter 1 features a number of skillfully chosen, noteworthy, although generally extravagant, action scenes that brilliantly enhance the main character, Arun Vijay. Additionally beneficial to the actor's ability to effectively translate these moments on-screen is his austere screen appearance. He faces off against Bharat Bopanna's antagonist, who undoubtedly possesses the dominant physicality required for the part but who spends most of the scene merely glaring at the camera.
One of those supposed-to-be mass moments that's a must for an actioner like Mission Chapter 1 is the scene where Arun Vijay's Gunasekaran dons his action hero shoes and beats up the goons to let the audience know that he is no ordinary man. When someone yells at our hero, "You bloody Indian," we know exactly what's going to happen. He is going to unleash his inner mass hero and, of course, take care of the goons by himself. However, the scene looks far better on screen, and a lot of this is due to the thrilling music by GV Prakash Kumar.
Nevertheless, aside from an oddly placed Amy Jackson, Mission Chapter 1 is an action film with a generic template and a strong ensemble. Unfortunately, though, all the other actors—including the always dependable Nimisha Sajayan and Iyal, the go-to child artist of contemporary Tamil cinema—are relegated to supporting roles, save for Arun Vijay.
